Chain Runners stores each Runner's DNA in contract storage (SSTORE), and the pixel layers and palettes live in a renderer contract wired in at launch, which composes the SVG on chain inside the metadata. The standard tokenURI goes through a later wrapper contract that returns an off-chain link instead; the on-chain rendering is available through onChainTokenURI() on that wrapper or on the renderer.
